The GVCM-032-076-02M (Metric version), features a 63.5 mm (2.50 in.) stroke and a diameter of 31.8 mm (1.250 in.). This motor features very high accuracy and repeatability when coupled with a linear encoder in a servo position loop. This low inertia motor also referred to as an electric cylinder and moving coil motor, has high reliability, high speed, zero cogging, high acceleration/deceleration. This clean and quiet motor is ideal for use in lab, cleanroom, assembly, sorting, and manufacturing applications. This Linear Voice Coil Motor has a high force-to-size ratio of 8.0 N (1.8 lbs.) continuous force and 25.3 N (5.3) of peak force at 10% duty cycle.

The internal M2.2X0.45 x 0.20 threaded 0.175 +/- 0.008 mm (0.125 +/- 0.0003 in.) diameter shaft enables a zero-backlash connection to the load. Two M3.5x0.6 x 0.20 threaded mounting holes on 12.7 mm (0.500 in.) bolt circles on each end of the motor allow for easy integration into new and existing applications.

The overall length of this compact linear actuator is 152.4 mm (6.00 in.) long and the shaft in the extended position extends 66.7 mm (2.625 in.) beyond the housing. The shaft guided by a plain bushing tolerates a side load up to 2.0 N (7.2 oz.)

Performance and Construction

The non-commutated direct drive design produces smooth bidirectional force proportional to coil current. With no gears, lead screws, or mechanical transmission components, the motor provides zero cogging, rapid acceleration and deceleration, quiet operation, and zero mechanical backlash when the load is coupled directly to the shaft. The housing length is 3.000 inch (76.2 mm). The internal bearing is rated for side loads up to 2.0 N (7.2 oz.).
